Frames, frames, frames!

Today was a day of frame making in the studio!

I made this name frame for my sweet friend, Ines. She lives in a group home in Mexico, a home that my church helps to support. I went two years in a row with my church to the home to help work there (paint, light construction, etc.), but for the past two years, I have not been able to go. I really bonded with Ines when I was there, and I really feel like I am letting her down by not going so I am trying to make it up to her in part by offering her this name frame. I LOVE doing name frames and have made them for lots of people and even sold some. They are fun. This picture does not really do this one justice. I am not really crazy about the picture, but in real life, it is very cute. The letters of her name pop off the circles and the little flowers pop up, too. They match the flowers in the ribbon, and all of the turquoise matches the frame. I hope she likes it...

I am also trying to get stuff ready to enter in the fair. I wanted to put in a few framed pieces. I made these two pieces using the Inspired by Nature stamp set. I think they are sweet pieces to pair together on a small wall or a small room.

On both the pieces I used a base of Old Olive, and in both pieces I stamped the words right on the matting of the frames. It was a brave, bold step because one little smudge or mistake and the matting was history, but I really like how it turned out. The flowers have a layer of Early Espresso behind them. I used Old Olive, Orchid Opulence, and Early Espresso to color in the stamp. I stamped the words for the flower in Early Espresso, too.

The grass picture has a layer of Certainly Celery behind it, and I stamped the sentiment in Old Olive. In both pictures, I popped up the stamped image and the layer behind it.

I am very happy with how they both turned out. We'll see what the fair folks think...

Finally, I made this little frame as a gift for my mom. Normally I give her a collection of cards, but as my husband pointed out, she just gives those away. This is something she can keep and look at again and again.

I found this sentiment stamp at the scrapbooking show I went to, and I really love the sentiment. I don't know; maybe I was getting tired, but when I read it, I got a little misty eyed. I think it is a great saying.

All in all, a productive day...
