'Tis the Season Challenge 53, A Photo Inspiration

Here's what I created for the newest challenge on 'Tis the Season, where it's Christmas all year long.

I have been wanting to get some ink on my new set, Winter Wishes, and when I saw this newest challenge, I knew that I'd have to use this set.

I also have been wanting to use the Hardwood background stamp to make the scalloped top fence... perfect for this challenge!

I did some incredibly fussy cutting on those skates and branch of pine.

I love how it turned out... even if I did accidentally emboss the falling snowflakes on the wrong side of the paper!

Check out the picture below, check out what the other ladies on the 'Tis the Season design team created, and play along!

'Tis the Season, a Color Challenge, #51

I just loved trying to decide what to make using these colors!  I immediately thought of a million cool snowflake cards, but I wanted to challenge myself a bit this time, exercise the big muscle inside my skull.

I used this OLD set.  I fell in love with the straight lines of gifts.  WARNING: this set is color heavy, but the little girl in me wanted to color today.

Head over to 'Tis the Season, check out the beautiful cards of the design team and play along!

'Tis the Season, A Photo Inspired Challenge

I went clean and simple with this challenge number 50 on 'Tis the Season Christmas card challenge.

I will say that I always have the hardest time with the the photo challenges.  I embossed the pine branches with emerald embossing powder.  Then I embossed the ornament with Cherry Cobbler and a gold embossing powder.  I cut that out so that no white paper showed on the edge.  I sponged the edges in Cherry Cobbler.  I popped that up (although it is impossible to tell from this picture).  I used large and small rhinestones to imitate the colored lights that are shining from the tree.

You should give it a shot... Head over to 'Tis the Season and play along! Here's the photo to inspire your work.  Make sure you post your creation to 'Tis the Season so we get to see what you came up with.

'Tis the Season Challenge #49, a Sketch Challenge

This is my take on the new challenge on 'Tis the Season.

I was looking at my stamps for something big to fill up that square.  I used this big poinsettia.  I went with that theme for the embossing folder, too.  I added a Cherry Cobbler seam binding ribbon.

On the flower itself, I inked it in black and then stamped it off once.  Then I used my blender pen to color that flower in.  I also used some gold metallic ink to create the berries and to add a bit of gold on the flowers.
I added my sentiment on before I colored in the flower, embossing it in gold to match the paper and the berries.

Inside, a lovely message to the receiver of this card

Why don't you try?  The sketch is below.  Once you've created your masterpiece, you can add it to the page at 'Tis the Season and show us what you came up with.

'Tis the Season, a Color Challenge!

This time, we have a color challenge for you guys!  These are some pretty non-traditional Christmas colors, and I took the directions literally and did change a few things up.  I used Old Olive instead of the Always Artichoke.  I also used So Saffron instead of Daffodil Delight, and Melon Mambo instead of the Strawberry Slush (but those two are so close to each other anyway...)

I am really happy with how it came out.  I used a blender pen to color in the tree; I think it's a little softer that way, don't you?

Why don't you try and play along? Don't forget to go to 'Tis the Season and add your card to play along!

'Tis the Season, Inspiration Challenge, number 47

Here's my take on the 'Tis the Season challenge posted this week.

I chose my base based on that big blue blog in the corner of the picture.  The tree goes from Sky Blue to Pirouette Pink with a bit of Blushing Bride on the top.  I colored the ornaments with my Pretty in Pink, Tempting Turquoise, and Regal Rose.  I topped the tree with a tiny glitter star. There's also a stripe of Pink Pirouette, embossed with snowflakes, across the middle.
Here's a close up of the tree.

Why don't you head on over to 'Tis the Season and check out what the rest of the design team came up with.  You can also link your card up there and play along!

'Tis the Season, A Color Challenge that is Challenging!

I am pleased to present to you my take on the 45th, extremely challenging color challenge brought to you by 'Tis the Season... where it's Christmas all year long!

This time, we are give the color challenge of Navy, Sand, and Concord.  Since my go to concord would be Stampin' Up's Concord Crush, I went to that color folder (I am a little OCD...) and found mere scraps left of my stash.  Okay... that's cool... it's meant to be used, not hoarded...

These colors stumped me for a bit, I have to admit.  They are not what I like to call, "traditional" Christmas colors.

So I searched for something that didn't scream for those "traditional" colors... stars, baby!

I have been wanting to play more with my star dies and my Many Merry Stars Stamp Set (double alliteration... nice, Stampin' Up).
Here is a product of their union.  I tried to take a side shot to show you both the paper piercing in the big Night of Navy star and the top Sahara Sand star, and the fact that each layer is popped up giving such a cool 3D effect that you I really can't capture in a photo.

I added the sentiment from the set with the same name, added one piece of bling right in the center, and called it a day.

Why don't you head over to 'Tis the Season and play along with us... show us what you've got!

'Tis the Season, Color Challenge 42!

Boy was I stumped at this mix of colors originally!  I love the Crumb Cake and grey.  I also love the Cherry Cobbler and Real Red, but I just never use the two reds together...

I must say I am quite pleased with how this turned out.  I inked up the whole wreath stamp in Crumb Cake, and then I individual leaves grey and cobbler.  I stamped it on Very Vanilla.  I created a vanilla ribbon of paper.  I stamped "joy" in cherry, "season of" in grey, and spritzed some red and sponged the edges with Crumb Cake ink.  I also added red glitter to the wreath and complimented that with a red layer of glitter paper.  I also threw a layer of gray under the image and popped the whole layer on top of a Crumb Cake base.

Now that you know the colors, why don't you head over to 'Tis the Season, see what the rest of the designers created, and then post your creation.  I can't see what you come up with!
