But wait... there's more!

I'm feeling this one a bit more. This is my second card for both the Friday Mashup and the Colour Q challenge. The Mashup challenge was a sketch challenge, and the Colour Q challenge was to use black, white, and any other color. I'm trying to get a jump start on Valentine's cards, so red it is.

I used the new Framelits labels and then embossed it. I used a non-SU embossing folder. Then I sponged the edges with black and distressed it a bit. Then I also sponged in the hearts in real red. The rest is obvious, basic black, whisper white, word window, modern label, ribbon punch. Inside, I did stamp the "love you much" sentiment from Well Scripted in red ink on white and used the heart punch. It's very cute (sorry no picture of that!)

Thanks for looking...

I missed my Mashups!

The worst part of being MIA for the past month is that I really missed the challenges over on The Friday Mashup. I love their challenges, and I really enjoy playing along. I missed you, ladies!!! Now, with my mojo missing, I am doing the best I can. This is a sketch challenge was exactly that for me... a challenge. I was struggling. But then I came up with not one, but two ideas. So here's the first one. I also used the color challenge over on Colour Q this week. That challenge was to use black, white, and any other color of your choice. Clearly, I went with red and worked on building a stock of Valentine's Day cards.

I used a new heart embossing folder I bought in MI. I also used my new framelits labels collection. I cut out a white label, then embossed it with my hearts, then I used my brayer and rolled it out in Real Red. What's really cool looking is how you can see some hearts in the ink from where the brayer rolled over the embossed hearts. It's really very cool in real life. Then I took a strip of red, used the hearts embossing folder again and slapped that baby on. Next, I used a strip of black, punched the edge, tied a red ribbon around it and slapped that piece on. Next, I stamped a part of a stamp from the new Sprinkled Expressions stamp. I like the whole sentiment, but I just chose to use "Love you" with the hearts. I did pop that up.

I don't hate it, but I'm not in total love either. Thanks for looking!

Don't worry... I'm still alive...

I love how one of my favorite bloggers wrote, "The rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated." I know I've been MIA. It's the holiday season. I get so busy, I stop making cards for challenges and for fun and begin to make things solely for the holidays. So.... I'mmmm baaacccckkkkk!!! But my mojo is not. I tried to get it started again with the color challenge on Stampin' Royalty. I've also been fighting a cold so this may be too late to link, but I made it so I am posting it! (I just checked... it's still open! Yes! Now I'll finally get some feedback on a card!)

So I started with a base of Crumb Cake, then added a layer of Chocolate Chip that I embossed with the tulip frame folder. Next I have layers of both Pretty in Pink and Rose Red. I like to shake it up and change things for each card I make. You can see how I varied the order and size of the layers.
I stamped the flower from Sprinkled Expressions on white in Rose Red ink. On one, I just have the flower. On the other one, I used the spritzing tool and sprayed some Pretty in Pink spots and Crumb Cake spots.
On both cards, I popped up the center layer.
Also, for each card I put the sentiment on the inside, and this is a sentiment I just love! I think it's so sweet and fun.

Here's a close up of inside.
