I finally got into the studio and the birth of "The Evolution of the Card" took place. I was ready to pump out some mother's day cards. (In all actuality, that was where the idea was born but I can't show those yet.) I wanted to do about 4 of each card. I started with one card idea and color scheme. I made one, and then for the next one, the card evolved. It was a cool experience.
This one was the first. I started with a base of Rose Red. I scored some lines from the fold in the card to the edge of the card. Three lines down each side of the card. I used this stamp from the set. I started this one Whisper White. I colored him in with my stampin' write markers. I placed that on So Saffron. That was placed on Certainly Celery which was placed on Wild Wasabi. In the corner their is one brad (Old Olive, I believe). Finally, I tied a white grosgrain ribbon around the bottom. It's super cute, but walk with me as this card evolves...
This is the second life of this card. I switched the orientation of the card. I kept the scored lines down each side, but I also put them across the top and bottom of the stamped sentiment. I layered the same colors as above. I water colored this guy on watercolor paper. I layered them up and then roughed up the edges of the bottom layer. Next, I added a little loop of ribbon in Celery.
This is the next evolution. It is way off of what I started with! This was actually a sketch that Dawn Olchefske had a while ago. I used Wild Wasabi, Certainly Celery, So Saffron, and Pink Pirouette. I water colored my turtle this time, too, but this time he has pink dots on his shell! I used my embossing folders and picked different patterns to emboss each square.
This is the final evolution, which is very similar to the last one, but I used only Stampin' Up embossing folders.
I think I'll keep this up! It's cool to see the card keep changing. I will try and get these "Evolution of the Card" at least once a month.
Thanks for looking!
