Elegant Wedding Card, take two!

This is the second wedding card I made for this week's challenge on The Friday Mashup. (Yeah! I can link again... it's every other post that I can't... weird...).

Anyway, if you read my other post, my niece was getting married (she is now married, October 15th! Congrats L and R!), and I saved her wedding invitation and wanted to use it to make her a card. This has a base of Very Vanilla, and then a layer that is made out of a second flap of the invitation. This one has the swirly, floral thing, too, just not as much of it, lending it perfectly to following the sketch of the week. I added a layer of vanilla, embossed. Then I I added a square of Soft Suede that is wrapped with a piece of ribbon that is totally recycled. What I think is so cool about this ribbon is my friend Susan gave it to me. But wait... there's more. Her brother sent it to her. He got it from his friend who works at a department store and he saves all the ribbon from returned gifts. She gets huge massive amounts of this gorgeous grosgrain ribbon... and she's kind enough to share it with me!!!! How cool is that recycled story? I added the sentiment from the Word Play stamp set. I stamped it in suede on vanilla. I added a little bling on the diamond of the ring. I punched it out with 1 3/4" circle. I popped that up using stamping dimensionals on a 2" circle of the wedding invitation. Then I popped that up, too!

Elegant Response to two Challenges

This card fulfills the challenge over on The Friday Mashup (http://www.fridaymashup.com/2011/10/fm30-recycle-renew-reuse.html) and Stamping 411's sketch challenge (http://stamping411.blogspot.com/2011/10/saturday-sketch-challenge-227.html). {My computer won't let me make the links... sorry!} Anyway... over on The Friday Mashup, the challenge is to recycle, renew, and reuse, and I can't wait to tell you this story! My husband and I got a wedding invitation to our niece's wedding. I kept her wedding invitation because I thought it would be so cool to to create a wedding card for her by using her wedding invitation... so that's what I did! I started with a base of Very Vanilla. Then I used one of the flaps from her wedding invite. It's this gold embossed floral, swirly thing... very elegant, very pretty. Then, I used a ribbon that my friend Susan's brother's friend gave to Susan, who shared it with me (did you follow that?). I used the Congratulations stamp, punched it out, and then I punched out more of the wedding invite to put behind that, and I know that's really hard to see in this picture. Sorry! I used Dawn O.'s great tutorial for the bunny ear bow to make this bow. Oh! I also colored in the skinny oval around the congratulations with Soft Suede.

Mashup Joy

Here's my first attempt at this week's Friday Mashup idea. Heidi is so right! I do hold on to some stuff! So I was thrilled with this challenge. I used the sketch AND I used some retired DSP (just because it's retired doesn't mean that it is no good... it's not an expiration date!) I also used some ribbon that is totally recycled. I have these pegs that hang off the side of my ribbon storage unit my dad and I made. I hang pieces of ribbon there that come from gifts or other places so I'll see them and can use them should the chance arise. I don't remember where this one came from, but it totally works on this card.

I have a base of Real Red, a layer of Sahara Sand, then I used 3 different patterns of DSP, and I finally made one of those fancy fold things. I don't remember what they're called. What I do know is that I bought a scoring board before Stampin' Up came out with theirs so I used my non-SU board to emboss lines every 1/4" and made this... rosette. I stamped the sentiment from Word Play. You can kind of tell I used my crystal effects on the ornament in the middle. Speaking of ornaments, I used my ornament punch and then I punched out 3 more in red and made a layer under the sentiment ornament.

I LOVE winter!

In my desire to squeeze in as many challenges as possible this Sunday afternoon, I created this card with the sketch from Stamping 411 in mind, and I was still thinking about the Friday Mashup, too. I didn't take the easel part of the challenge, but I still have lots of snowflakes on this bad boy!

I have a Whisper White base. Then I have a layer of Baja Breeze on which I stamped the long row of snowflakes from this set across again (and again and again and again). I did that in Baja Breeze ink. I used two small strips of Marina Mist that are embossed with the new snowflake embossing folder. The center has a big 2 1/2" circle of white. I stamped the two snowmen on it and used my sponge daubers around the edges. I colored the stamps with my markers to make the snowmen multi-colored. Then I added a Bashful Blue snowflake punch with a 1" white CS sentiment in the middle. The sentiment reads, "love doesn't melt." Don't you just love that sentiment?!? I think it's so sweet! I added the red heart because of the love sentiment. Then I added a white grosgrain ribbon with a cheater bow that has a rhinestone center in the middle. Sparkly... like snow. I love it! Two Snow Dudes For Two Challenges

I created this card to fulfill two different challenges. The sketch is from Inkspirations weekly challenge. The second challenge is part of the Friday Mashup. I didn't mashup the two ideas... I just went with the snowflake idea. I decided to use my new stamp set. This is the first time I added any ink to it!

I started with a base of Whisper White. Then I used Baja Breeze and Marina Mist. I did emboss the Marina Mist with the new snowflake embossing folder. I used my markers to ink up my stamps so they could be multi-colored. I punched a Bashful Blue snowflake with my snowflake punch. I also punched a 1" circle of white with "merry wishes" in marina in the center.

I also used a small strip of the blue stripped ribbon (it's not SU ribbon, but it still is super cute!)

Here's a close up of the snowflake, which I popped up using stampin' dimensionals.

Snowy Hello Color Challenge

I created this card tonight for Create with Connie and Mary's color challenge. The challenge was to use Bravo Burgundy, River Rock, and Baja Breeze. Those are the colors I used here.

I used the Gift Givers set. I also used the new embossing folder (Snow Burst). I used the scallop circle punch and the ribbon punch (I'm sure that's not the name).

I also used Baja Breeze ribbon and moonlight smooch and Dazzling Details on my girl. Finally, I used the paper piecing method to give her a Burgundy coat.

Pumpkin Stamped Stamps

This is a clean and simple card that does meet two different challenges that I am a fan of. This card works for the Friday Mashup weekly challenge (a Halloween themed card and a color challenge). It also fulfills the Stamping 411 weekly sketch challenge.

I think it's pretty self explanatory. I got the color challenge in by sponging the purple on the edges (I have to admit, I don't have Concord Crush so I used Elegant Eggplant... am I a cheater?) This is the first time I've used my 1" square punch.
