Thank You So Much!

I made this card (well, two of these cards really) for a few friends of mine. I have seen this layout a few times lately and thought I would use it. The card stock is Baja Breeze. I used this foil paper that my friend gave me in this pink-y color (thus, one of the thank you cards went to her for her thoughtfulness), used my big notes die, and then cut it in half. Then on Whisper White, I stamped the leaves from Bold Blossom (in Wild Wasabi) and a flower from that hostess set Punch Potpourri (in Pretty-in-Pink). In the center is the sparkly brad in the in color Blushing Bride (shhhh... don't tell). Finally, I stamped the sentiment from the Bold Blossoom set in Baja on white and used my oval punch to punch it out. Then I punched a scallop oval in Pretty-in-Pink.

It's simple, but I believe it expresses my gratitude to two lovely ladies for their kindness to me!

Birthday Challenge

So I really wanted to get a card done for this week's challenge on Stamping 411. I just got my free ribbon and buttons from the SAB cattie, and I got watercolor paper, too. I wanted to try to do watercolor. I need to work on it.

The colors are Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point, and Old Olive. I used 1 1/4" square punch and the 1 3/8" square punch. Then I used the small oval and popped up the daffodil delight using dimensionals. I also used the SAB ribbon and the buttons.

I gotta get this on Stamping 411 before I crash...

Double Embossed Dotted Birthday

So if you are one of the 13 followers I have (big thanks to you, BTW), you might notice that I made a set of cards that had lots o' dots. I decided to give that card set to a friend for her birthday, so I wanted to make a birthday card that tied into that theme. I used Old Olive, So Saffron, Cherry Cobbler circles in 3/4", 1", and 1 1/4". I used a glue stick to glue the circles down completely to a piece of Chocolate Chip. I put that on a piece of Crumb Cake for the card base. Then I stamped the sentiment from Bring On the Cake on Very Vanilla in Chocolate Chip. I added the 3 circles on the bottom and used dimensionals to pop up the whole message.

Circles and Butterflies and Neutrals, Oh My....

I love, love, love how this turned out. Again, I am happy that my mojo returned. I was reaching up into my friend's cabinet for a glass. She had this cool tall clear glass that was covered in white, gray, and black circles. I immediately knew I was inspired. This is one of the ideas I had. I used a thick piece of vellum for the base of the card. Then I used three 1 3/8" circles in Whisper White, Basic Gray, and Basic Black. Then I stamped 3 butterflies using the butterfly from the Bliss SAB set. It's very simple. I was thinking about putting a modern label punch with some message (thank you, thinking of you, something like that), but I like it as it is. I did put a layer of shimmery white inside to be able to write a message on. Yeah, you will be able to see the writing through the vellum once you use the card, but the card is gorgeous!

Welcome back, Mojo!

It has been so long since I designed a card. Everything I've been making lately has been a case. I am not opposed to casing someone; in fact, I am grateful that so many people post their ideas. But there is a line sometimes for me. I get so many good ideas, see so many beautiful cards to case, that I think my mojo sometimes leaves me and hangs out somewhere else. I just created 8 boy birthday cards for a class and just about every one of them was cased...

I am happy to say, I have recently been inspired, oddly enough, by a trip to Home Depot! I saw these cute little flowers in a pot that had uneven layers of green (on one pot) and pink (on the other pot). I decided to combine the two and mimic the uneven layers on the front of this card that I made for this week's challenge over on Stamping 411. The details follow...

I started with a base of Wild Wasabi. Then I put the layer of uneven layers of Pretty-in-Pink and Certainly Celery. On top of that, I my main image I have used the Sweet Summer SAB set on a piece of Whisper White and the colors Wild Wasabi, Certainly Celery, Pretty-in-Pink, and Rose Red. That is on top of a piece of Wild Wasabi. I also colored and cut out that sweet little butterfly from the Sweet Summer set and popped him up (really to hide a shadow the stamp made on the last flower I stamped). Next I used "thank you" from Bold Blossom in Rose Red. I punched it out with my word window. Then I punched a Rose Red piece with my modern label punch. Finally, I put a loop of Regal Rose ribbon.

Sweet Flower Trio

Another cased card.... Sarah Wills, will you be my best friend? I really love her work. I cased this from her, changing some details. I started with a base of Baha Breeze. I then put on a layer of Crumb Cake that I embossed, using a texture plate (my first experience with my new plates! LOVE THEM!) Then I added a piece of Baha Breeze ribbon, our new seam binding. Next I added a square of Whisper White. Then, on a slightly smaller piece of white, I stamped the stem from Sweet Summer in Early Espresso. I colored the leaves in Certainly Celery. Then on scrap paper, I stamped three flowers from the set. I colored them in using Baha Breeze. I cut them out and popped them up using stampin' dimensionals. Then I used dimensionals to pop the smaller white piece on top of the larger white piece.

I really like the white on white look in this card. Thanks to Sarah for the great idea! And thank you for looking!

Embossed and Engraved Birthday

I made this card using the Engraved Greeting set. I am trying to put together a class of all boy birthday cards. I don't know about you, but I think boy cards are hard. Adding ribbon makes them too girly, lots of my stamp sets are also too girly with flowers, butterflies, etc. This set makes a great boy birthday.

I started with a Real Red base. Next I used a basic black layer that I texturized with the background Texturz Plates. I stamped the image by coloring on the stamp with my stampin' markers. I used two teeny tiny black brads. Then I used my spritzer tool to spray red and black speckles all over the image. Finally, I finished it up by using my photo corners punch and red paper (I also embossed those using a rough strips embossing folder... not SU...)

I think it works for a guy. Not too much fluff or bling. Not too much stuff or too much bling... perfect for a dude!
